About me and my approach
My approach is Person Centred and Integrative which means that I will use different methods of therapy according to the individual needs of my clients. I believe in creating a new therapy for each client, as each client is a unique individual with unique thoughts, feelings and problems. The most important thing for me as a counsellor is that I try to see the world through my client's eyes and that I treat each client as the individual they are.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Interpsyche Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy studies in Dartford, Kent. Working Integratively means that I use several different approaches and models in my client work acording to individual needs. My unique model incorporates the Person Centred approach of Carl Rogers, Psychodynamics, Cognitive behavioural Therapy and when appropriate Gestalt interventions and creative work such as sand and drawing therapy. I have a keen interest in the positive effects of Mindfulness and encourage the use of some of its principles and techniques into our daily lives.
I have experience in working with many issues including but not limited to:
Abuse (all types)
Eating disorders (all types)
Low self esteem

During an initial consultation we will discuss what your concerns are, your expectations of counselling and if together we will be able to form a therapeutic relationship. We will discuss the 'counselling contract' and what you can expect from me as the counsellor and what I expect from you as the client.
It is quite natural to feel a little anxious and nervous about an initial meet but my aim is to try to make you feel relaxed and comfortable as quickly as possible.
Most of us need help with a problem or issue at some stage in our life and I understand how hard it is to admit that and then seek out the help. Maybe now it is your time...... I look forward to hearing from you.
