About Gillian and her approach
Gillian's approach is Person Centred and Integrative which means that she will use different methods of therapy according to the individual needs of clients. She believes in creating a new therapy for each client, as each client is a unique individual with unique thoughts, feelings and problems. The most important thing to her as a counsellor is to try to see the world through the client's eyes and to treat each client as the individual they are.
Gillian holds a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Interpsyche Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy studies in Dartford, Kent. Working Integratively means using several different approaches and models in all client work according to individual needs. This unique model incorporates the Person Centred approach of Carl Rogers, Psychodynamics, Cognitive behavioural Therapy and when appropriate Gestalt interventions and some creative approaches. A note from Gillian.....
" During an initial consultation we will discuss what your concerns are, your expectations of counselling and if together we will be able to form a therapeutic relationship. We will discuss the 'counselling contract' and what you can expect from me as the counsellor and some guidelines for you as my client.
It is quite natural to feel a little anxious and nervous about an initial meet but my aim is to try to make you feel relaxed and comfortable as quickly as possible.
Most of us need help with a problem or issue at some stage in our life and I understand how hard it is to admit that and then seek out the help. Maybe now it is your time...... I look forward to hearing from you."
